Our Future Generation

Our Future Agenda is a program by the United Nations Foundation that aims to include the young generation as designers of their own future, not as recipients of decisions of elders who have.
They chose a group of next generation artists, designers, or illustrators under the age of 30,
and I was lucky enough to get chosen amongst other young artists to collaborate and create this new vision and plan for the future generation.

I was commissioned to create an image that reimagines the building of the organization for a very different age by highlighting the recognizable UN Headquarter and putting it in an imagined and better future.

Sketches

I started by sketching out a couple of rough ideas by laying down the main components of the illustration, starting with the iconic United Nations building in a futuristic space, The Sustainable Development Goals Flags and a group of youngsters.
Ideation

I generated four ideas, each one had a unique perspective and core concept. The first pair was highlighting the important components being the building and the things around it and how it is bringing back life to the world. The second pair underlines the new approach of this project, giving the next generation the flame of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with additional cross-direction roads representing the seven continents of the world. The second proposition made it to the next step.

Typography

The title had to come out of the same universe as the building and its new spatial environment.
I chose to work with a fluid and natural look and feel for each letter, creating a typographical composition that is both memorable and unique on its own.
